5 experiences to enjoy in Florence if it's your first time

by Virginia

1. Go to the Duomo

Start your trip in the heart of Florence. Climb to the top of Brunelleschi’s dome for a breathtaking view over the city and go inside the cathedral to look at the grand architecture. Don't miss the Baptistery and Giotto’s Bell Tower nearby. The Duomo is the most grand and famous structure in all of Florence, so your trip would not be complete without seeing it.

2. Watch the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo

Watching the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo is an incredible way to see the most spectacular view in Florence. From this viewpoint, you will be able to see the Duomo, the Arno River, and the Tuscan mountains. There is also often live music and stands to get drinks, making it a fun activity to do during your time here.

3. Walk through the Uffizi Gallery

The Uffizi Gallery is a museum located right on the Arno River. The museum is one of the most famous in the world and houses many famous and historic paintings, such as The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli. If you’re going to Florence, we recommend taking time to admire the gorgeous art at the Uffizi.

4. See The David at the Accademia Gallery

In addition to the Uffizi, the Accademia Gallery is another museum that is definitely worth seeing on your trip to Florence. Here, you can see The David by Michelangelo, one of the most famous statues in the world (and for good reason). There is also much more to the museum, like other sculptures, paintings, and more.

5. Marvel at the views from the Ponte Vecchio

The Ponte Vecchio is a bridge located on the Arno River in the center of the city. Especially during sunset hours, the view from this bridge is spectacular. You can also find many shops on the bridge, making it a memorable experience that you won’t forget.
